ARKS HELICES #1 PRELAUNCH IS LIVE
– Mon, Sep 01, 2025 at 03:37:36 AM
it’s a Dyson-class space station, a mega-structure so vast it can only exist in the orbit of a dead star. Within its colossal O’Neill cylinders, the last of humanity clings to survival, hiding from an unknowable enemy. An enemy that doesn’t hunt them physically, but hunts their very pattern in the quantum field. If it can find you, it can become you.
In Arks Helices #1, the thrilling first instalment of a three-part series, we follow Moxy—a 23,000-year-old immortal, time-traveling, bio-punk-noir detective—sent down from the Helices to investigate missing Arks in the colony below. But this time, the enemy has sent one of its own: an evil unlike anything she has ever faced before. An evil that doesn’t simply want to kill you… but to become you.
Arks Helices #1 is a bio-punk-noir detective story, blending eldritch horror with high-concept science-faction* storytelling. Prepare to enter a universe where humanity’s last sanctuary might also be its tomb.
*Based on real science
The prelaunch page for Arks Helices #1 is up. This will be our next Kickstarter, launching sometime around November this year. It’s written by me— Rory Collins—and is being lined and coloured by the incredible Gustaffo Vargas (Image, Marvel). As a tiny, piss-pant publisher, joining the prelaunch helps us immensely. It gets us hyped when we see more people following, and gives us the best possible chance of a good launch so go on do it…click here and hit notify me on launch;v)
Now I know you didn’t ask - but I personally bloody hate it when publishers and studios endlessly mint sequels, keeping characters in place so brands remain recognisable, making each subsequent book or film bigger and badder to stand in for actual development. You feel it when you read it—familiarity without momentum. Repetition disguised as escalation. All thoughtfully plotted stories start with an end in mind. Worlds should expand because the story demands it, not because the market wants more of it. So I have done something brilliant or mad. I am a legend or a bastard… you decide. I have plotted out the full Arks storyline and made this roadmap. You can see where Helices fits into the storyline. Some of you will be thinking, ‘Jesus, finish Issue 6 before you hit me with this!’ You are, of course, absolutely right. But the reason Issue 6 will be great is because I have been a dirty, greasy plotter and planned out the story in its entirety. BEHOLD!
I have been alive for 16,072 days, and there is an excellent chance it’ll take me approximately 32,000 days to complete all these books. It will be my life’s work. But I’m up for it*
The unstuckening!

It happens to all of us at some point-- we get stuck in a chicken and egg dilemma.
To do this, I need to do that. But if I do that I won’t be able to do this.
Like any indie book we want to reach a bigger audience, but to reach a bigger audience we can’t make books. And you especially can’t make books when your god-tier artist Andrew is making hay in advertising and your incredible American artist Erich retires from making comic books.
Instead of knuckling down and facing the 'stuckening', I did what most word-nerds do when faced with reality, I started plotting out even more books. I watched in terror as what I thought would be 3 (volume size) books become 5. And realised that this story would take a life time to complete and would probably kill Andrew.
So imagine how I felt when a new god-tier artist slid into the DMs and said he’s available in August and wanted to work on an Arks story.
BUT… You have started art for both of your current storylines and have no other scripts.
DOUBLE PLUS BUT… You have just finished plotting future books. One of which features a 23,000 year old, immortal, time travelling, hard boiled, syn-bio super hero cop that breaks bones without breaking the laws of physics. And you have written a loose back story for this character!
… It’s unconventional, I know. ButBEHOLD-Arks: Helices.
Arks Helices #1 Cover mockup by me
It’s a story about a character yet to be introduced in our main storyline, that reveals how the Arks storyline will expand. Missing out all of the key plot steps to make this storyline connect with the existing storyline but crucially...
It will connect.
It’s mind blowing.
It’s the most demented thing I have ever written.
It’ll be the first story ever to feature ‘UNSPOILERS’. Story spoilers, that you won’t know are spoilers until you have read as yet, unmade stories, that will contain the foreshadowed moments un-spoiled by this storyline. It’s ingenious, If I do say it myself. Christopher Nolan would approve.
And crucially, 'unstuckening' myself and freeing me up to do the boring essential stuff.
Arks Helices is going to be a three part story told in 20’ish page episodes. I wrote the scripts in record time and it'll be line and coloured by the incredible Gustaffo Vargas(Image, Marvel) who has already started the art!

We will likely be running a kickstarter for this sometime in October / November. To be followed with Arks Issue Six and Arks Proximan #2 next year, which we have already started the art for. BEHOLD X2...

The prelaunch for Arks Helices#1 will be live in the coming weeks but until then (if you haven’t already) please join…
We will be launching Arks Issue Six one of two ways. We will launch early 2026 or within one week of the project reaching 800 followers on the prelaunch page. Kickstarter nerds will know that that is a very high number for a prelaunch page but we've got to the point where as an indie press, we're doing maths a lot. If you want it sooner tell your buds at the comic shop, bus stop, anywhere people congregate and get them to join the Arks Issue Six Prelaunch!
Likewise Arks Proximan #2 kickstarter will be launching sometime in 2026 or within one week of the project reaching 800 followers. Don't be nerds now and join each of the pre-launches and force us to make both of them this year. That would be a dick* move... *(lovely)
The biggest comic Con in the Kingdom cometh to the London Excel this weekend. Three days of chaos await. Think the end of Pinocchio when the orphans get turned into donkeys on Pleasure Island and your half way close to the insanity! Myself and Andrew will be in Artist Alley at tableB-04, Friday to Saturday! And our legendary producer Holly will be deputising with me on Sunday (because Saturday is her birthday). We'll be happy to sign, drink and blab all weekend. Get your tickets here!
More from the void soon.

ARKS ISSUE FIVE HAS SHIPPED!
UK readers should receive their books this week with EU, America and the rest of the world later the following.
CSW fulfilment HQ
Heres a bit of Cmd-C & Cmd-V from the last update for people that missed it:
I think this is the best book we've put out to date. It's a 60 page, high finish, full colour, science of Adam and Eve whopper! Praise be to Andrew Morris, James Daly, Jeremiah Lambert and Holly Cameron for all their hard work :)
As we've said in previous updates, we're not returning immediately to Kickstarter with our next book. We sincerely hope to be back later this year with Arks Issue 6 / Proximan #2. In the meantime if you enjoy Arks Issue Five, please let us know. Tell your pals, sign up to our newsletter, follow us on socials and generally be a bore about a cranky sci-fi GFX novel being made above a radiator cabinet showroom in Kings Cross London.
Name in Comic
For the deca-million to the power legends that put 'your name in the comic', you'll find your names 4 pages into the story on the 1st panel.
Your name in the Comic panel
And finally...
We couldn't do this without you
Thank you so much for backing us! When you receive this book you'll realise that Arks Issue Five is a chunky boi. It's more a small graphic novel than a single issue comic. In the future I promise to get better at capitalism and start producing smaller books in a timelier fashion. But until that day- salute :)
Back in a few

We're booked to do two brilliant events in the UK this year! The absolutely huge London MCM on the weekend of May 23-25 and the absolutely brilliant Thought Bubble on the 15-16th in Harrogate Yorkshire. It doesn't matter how you're wired these are two great events and I strongly advise you to toke it ;)
Arks Volume One & Proximan #1 where also reviewed in the amazing Fortean Timesa few months back. Very chuffed to get a good review by such a big monthly magazine.
